NYC Public Advocate Jumaane Williams Endorses Dia Carabajal for New York State Assembly
Auburn, NY - Today Dia Carabajal, Democratic Nominee for New York State Assembly in the 126th district, announced that her campaign is endorsed by Jumaane Williams, Public Advocate, City of New York.
"As we recover from the devastating effects of the Covid-19 pandemic, constituents in the 126th Assembly District need a representative who understands the challenges facing Central New York and who has the experience to effectively advocate for them. We need Dia's voice in Albany, and I am proud to endorse her candidacy for State Assembly,” said Williams.
Jumaane Williams has served as New York City’s Public Advocate since 2019, and from 2009-2019, he represented the 45th District in the New York City Council. Jumaane recently ran for Lieutenant Governor of New York State, where his progressive campaign received more votes than any other candidate of color in a statewide primary.
“Jumaane Williams has been a champion for the progressive movement and has spent his career fighting to secure fair affordable housing for New Yorkers,” said Carabajal. “In order to tackle problems facing our state we need to work with partners at all levels, from every part of the state. Jumaane has long committed to fighting for all New Yorkers both as an activist and an elected official.”
Dia Carabajal is also endorsed by U.S. Senators Bernie Sanders (VT,) Charles Schumer (NY) and Kirsten Gillibrand (NY), as well as NYS Comptroller Tom DiNapoli. In addition, Carabajal is endorsed by numerous unions, organizations and residents of Cayuga, Chenango, Cortland and Onondaga Counties.
